12-day Expedition to the Cradle of Mankind is definitely the best safari for all who wish to go off the beaten tracks. We will travel this harsh 1800-kilometer-long journey in Land Rovers and see some of the worst African roads. We wil see lots of interesting tribes and the amazing Chalbi desert. Finally we will reach Lake Turkana – the Cradle of Manking. With the Samburu we will take a camel trip to see Mt. Nyiro. This is a trip through space and time, for the place we will visit look exactly the same as 100 years ago.
ITINERARY
DAY 1: Arrival at Nairobi Airport. Transfer to the camp for overnight near the city centre. DAY 2: Morning departure and trip to Sweetwaters Park for afternoon safari. This is the only private parkn in Kenya where the chimpazees are being introduced back to their natural environment. Overnight in Mountain Rock Campsite. DAY 3: Morning departure to Samburu park, to reach there in time for an afternoon safari. Overnight in a campsite in the shade of trees. DAY 4: We will set out to Marsabit and after piching our tents we will visit Lake Paradise and Little Lake.
DAY 5: We travel to Kalacha on the edge of Chalbi Desert. DAY 6: We leave Chalbi in the morning and travel to Lake Turkana. DAY 7: This day is for you to relax, enjoy the sun and maybe take a short boat trip on the lake. We may also visit Loiyangalani and its community, and at night watch (as an extra) traditional tribe dances. DAY 8: Camel safari in the morning. From Lake Turkana we will travel to Tuum, west of Mt. Nyiro, where we will make our camp. DAY 9: After breakfast we will go for a morning walk to watch the beautiful sunrise. Later we travel to Maralal, where we will stay for the night. DAY 10: Travelling south we will reach Lake Baringo, were we break camp near the hippo feeding spot. From the shore we will watch them as well as crocs and lizards. We will also have a chance to see over 1200 bird species in this renown bird sanctuary. DAY 11: After breakfast there will be time for a boat trip in search of hippos, crocs and eagles. Next – a transfer to Nairobi and to a tourist class hotel for overnight.
DAY 12: Breakfast and transfer to the airport for flight back to Europe. REMARK: It is possible to extend the trip by a stay in Zanzibar in a 4* hotel or private Vanilla House. DATES
